GordonGordon Winn first began to study Spanish in the summer of 1987 when he lived in Cuacos de Yuste in the remote region of Extremadura. Gordon continued his study of Spanish at the University of Richmond, graduating as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society in 1993 with a B.A. in Spanish. He returned to Roanoke, Virginia where he taught Spanish at his alma mater, North Cross School, for five years. During the summers, Gordon completed his Master’s Degree in Spanish Language at Middlebury College in 1998. In 1999, Gordon began teaching at The Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia where he taught for six years. During a sabbatical year in 2002-2003, Gordon returned with Middlebury College to Madrid, Spain where he studied syntax of the simple and complex sentences under the guidance of Mariluz Gutiérrez Araus. That defining experience was the impetus for the development of this book.
